Ginkgo Stool / Side Table in polished gilt bronze By Patrick Laroche
The Ginkgo side table is sculpted in bronze and is inspired by the iconic ginkgo leaf. This piece evokes the delicate fan shape of the foliage, translated into a sleek, functional form. Its design strikes a harmonious balance between botanical grace and organic fluidity, creating a piece that is both sculptural and serene.
Place of Origin: France
Condition: New

Patrick Laroche, born in 1959, is a Franco-Swiss sculptor whose work bridges classical craftsmanship and contemporary expression. He began his artistic journey in Belgium in 1985, studying under Roger de Jonckheere, Prix de Rome laureate, from whom he learned essential techniques like marble cutting, molding, and pantograph instrument. These skills became the foundation of his practice in stone, bronze, marble, and wood.

In the 1990s, his talent earned him significant commissions, including reproductions for the Louvre Museum (such as the Victory of Samothrace) and involvement in archaeological projects like the Topkapi Palace restoration in Istanbul. In 1992, Chanel commissioned him for design work following Karl Lagerfeld’s visit. He received the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France award in 1997 for a marble bust. More recently, Laroche returned to his preferred materials to create the Art furniture series, blending artistic expression with functionality. Inspired by ancient art and archaeology, these pieces evoke mysterious, architectural forms—sculptures that double as furniture, where doors and shapes hint at symbolic worlds. This fusion reflects his desire to make everyday objects poetic. Over a 35-year career, Patrick Laroche has held more than 100 exhibitions worldwide. His works are part of permanent collections in France, Canada, USA, Spain, and Poland.
